So a lot has happened since I last posted something that is not related to Glee or Community! I ended up changing my thesis project- twice! I was told that The Little Mermaid did not fit the theme for this year, man-made monster, well enough, so I decided to find something else. The first idea I chose was the book "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro. While I really enjoyed reading the book, adapting that to a twenty page comic was a hassle, and I became very depressed and I couldn't bring myself to draw. Dropping out of thesis for this year was even considered, because I was so distraught and felt helpless, like I would never find a good idea.
So one night, I am watching Rihanna's "We Found Love" video on YT, and thinking that the story of her and Chris Brown kind of fits the theme, and that it could be interesting to do, but not taking the idea seriously since it's something that very unlike my normal stories. However, the next morning during class, I got a lot of ideas for how it could work and what pages could look like, so I decided that maybe I should go with this. I'm very anxious about attempting this, but I think this is a good sort of anxiety that will lead me to create something I'm proud of. This is an idea I'm interested it, since it brings together Rihanna and feminism, and I think visually it will fit what I like to do usually, since I'm taking a lot of my art cues from her videos, particularly the "We Found Love" one. Though it's really awkward to explain to people that I'm doing a comic about Domestic Disturbia for my thesis...
In less personal news, both
1863_project and I have had the horror of out favorite player leaving for another team happen to us! YEEEEEEEEY :| Though I will miss José very much, I think Miami will be a good fit for him, and I'm happy for him in that way. The Marlins' organization clearly cares about him, and I think the fans will embrace him as he plays, even if he is a former Met. I'm more excited about this upcoming season that I have been in awhile. I think I needed to be shaken up a bit to become a big fan again, and this definitely did it!
Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, so have a happy one to my fellow Jews! :D
